CLASS IS FULL: First Sweater

|Recurring Event (See all)
Every week until February 22, 2017
| $70.

Are you ready to make your first sweater? Come join Rachel as we work through Tin Can Knits’ excellent beginner pattern, Flax. Over the course of a month, you’ll make a simple crewneck sweater with garter stitch accent on the sleeves. The pattern comes in sizes from infant through 4XL adult (so everyone). This class is perfect for an intrepid beginner or an intermediate knitter. You should be comfortable with knitting, purling and knitting in the round. Along the way, you will learn how to read a pattern, basic shaping, picking up stitches and how to use DPNs or magic loop. You can do this! You’ll need between 270 – 1400 yds of worsted weight yarn, plus circular needles and dpns in both the main size (US # 8) and a small size (US # 6); use the pattern to find the specific yardage and needle cable lengths for your sweater.

Materials:

  • Download pattern here
  • Size US 6 and US 8 circulars and DPNs (cord length depends on the size sweater you choose, see pattern)
  • 270-1400 yards of worsted weight yarn (yardage requirements depends on the size sweater you choose, see pattern)
Homework: Please bring a swatch to the first class of your desired yarn and needle combination for the main body. We’ll use it to choose the perfect fit of needle size and sweater.
